Royal Jordanian Airlines began flying direct flights to the Kurdish city of Sulaymaniah in northern Iraq last month with one of its recently acquired 70-seat Bombardier Q400 turboprops. The scheduled service, inaugurated on June 5, connects Sulaymaniah with the Jordanian capital Amman each Monday and Friday. The flights, which last roughly two hours, supplement Royal Jordanian’s regular service to Baghdad, Basra and Irbil. The airline recently chartered four flights from Amman to Sulaymaniah to accommodate Egyptian workers traveling to Iraq via Jordan for the rebuilding effort.
