International SOS Adds New Tianjin Health Center

Global medical travel services provider International SOS has opened a new international healthcare clinic in China, with its Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) facility joining existing clinics in Beijing, Nanjing and downtown Tianjin. The clinics supply medical care and emergency response to travelers and expatriates.

“The TEDA area of Tianjin is becoming an ideal location for companies that set up offices and factories here, relying on the proximity to the nearby port and Beijing,” said John Williams, managing director of SOS International China. “With so many companies in TEDA today, it is clearly shaping up to be one of China’s top business hubs.”

The new clinic will feature physicians who variously speak English, Chinese, Japanese and French in order to cater to the area’s diverse cultural makeup. Connected to the other in-country clinics as well as the company’s China Alarm Center, the new clinic is able to coordinate emergency evacuations out of the Tianjin and Binhai areas to local hospitals or to airports when international evacuations are required.

The International SOS group also includes MedAire (Booth H302), a U.S.-based group that provides medical support to business aircraft passengers and crew.
