Groundwork Being Laid for Hanscom Field Air & Space Museum
Group has accumulated some initial funds, but needs $100 million to build and initially operate the 300,000-sq-ft facility.

A team of business people and pilots are laying the groundwork for the proposed Massachusetts Air and Space Museum at Massachusetts’ Hanscom Airfield. Scheduled to open its doors in 2018, the project was launched in 2007. The group has accumulated some initial funds, but needs $100 million to build and initially operate the planned 300,000-sq-ft facility. In addition to 150,000 sq ft of exhibition galleries, the museum would include an auditorium, aircraft restoration shop and 13,000 sq ft for classrooms.
