Lee Medlin, a founding member and past chairman of the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers (S&D) Advisory Council, was presented today with the association’s Schedulers & Dispatchers Outstanding Achievement & Leadership Award, based on his more than three-decade long career in the scheduling and dispatching field and his service to the industry. The manager of flight operations for Chevron USA, he was the first non-pilot to be promoted to the position. His career began in 1980 with RJR Nabisco and includes stints with Sony and Samsung. He joined Chevron in 2002. He has attended all available course offerings in the company’s structured leadership development program, as well as completed two aviation leadership programs at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.

In addition to improving his own business aviation skillset and leadership tools, Medlin has worked to give back to the flight department community through his involvement with the NBAA S&D committee. He served on the S&D committee from 1993 to 1995 and chaired the S&D advisory council in 2006 and 2007. He was also one of the original members of the education development (training) subcommittee, and has been a frequent presenter at the annual S&D conference on a variety of subjects.

“I am so honored and proud to be here today because I have such tremendous respect for this organization, the Schedulers and Dispatchers committee and the advisory council, and all of you,” said Medlin as he accepted the award from NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen. “Like most of you here I truly love our industry. The unique opportunity that we have in this incredible niche industry still excites me to this day, and I’m very lucky to have a job that I have always enjoyed going into every day.”

Created in 2008, the award recognizes individuals who have shared their outstanding business aviation industry expertise, provided extraordinary service, exhibited leadership and made significant contributions to the scheduling and dispatching function.
