Mark Huber is an aviation industry veteran who has worked in the flight training, aircraft sales, aircraft component, and airport development businesses. He has flight time in more than 50 different and diverse aircraft, including helicopters, aerobatic aircraft, vintage warbirds, jet fighters, business jets and turboprops, and transport-category aircraft. He has jumped out of several of these—on purpose—with a parachute. His defense and aviation journalism has been published in a variety of national and international periodicals.

Chalk up another incompletion for the New York Jets. 
The perennially struggling U.S. National Football League team has withdrawn its application to build a helipad at its Florham Park, N.J. training facility. The Jets had claimed the helipad was necessary to speed exigent medical evacuations and for the swift transport of team personnel. Or maybe Coach Rex Ryan and his staff just needed a quick way to escape those pesky questions from sportswriters. 
The helipad application had drawn strong opposition from community anti-noise activists, who claimed the helipad was unnecessary in light of the training camp’s one-mile proximity to Morristown Municipal Airport (KMMU). An opposition petition that began circulating in May drew nearly 500 signatures and the helipad quickly became a political issue in the local borough council election. The petition noted, “The helipad will add unnecessary noise pollution to the adjacent neighborhoods in Madison and Florham Park and create a safety hazard for the residents as well as the children who use the Madison Recreation Complex and Madison High School, both of which are .5 miles from the location.”
Faced with this paper tiger, the Jets withdrew their application before the local planning and zoning board without comment in July.
