This week at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, John and Martha King of King Schools have announced release of a free iOS app that connects to King Schools Online Knowledge Test Courses, allowing customers to download the course video lessons. The means the video lessons can be viewed at any time, with our without an Internet connection, which King Schools said is “a great solution when traveling or when connected to a cellular data service with a limited data plan.”

The free app is available from the Apple App Store and requires only a King Schools iLearn account containing at least one King Knowledge Test Course. Once logged in, customers can navigate through the course and tap to download a lesson or to unload a lesson to free up space on their device.

Also at AirVenture, King Schools and Helicopter Association International president Matt Zuccaro announced that they plan to release the first-ever Online Flight Instructor Refresher Course (FIRC) specially designed for helicopter instructors.

The new helicopter FIRC focuses on helicopters, but also shares many features with the current King Schools Online FIRC that has already been used by thousands of CFIs to renew their certificates since its first release in May 2012.

Shared features include iPad support and the popular King QuikRenew service, which provides an entirely online , paperwork-free renewal process with nothing to be notarized or mailed in.

The helicopter FIRC also shares the King FIRC philosophy of providing renewing flight instructors’ fresh insights into ways they can help their customers to become good risk managers and long-term members of the pilot community.
