SimCom has completed the first initial training course for the new Total Eclipse using its recently qualified level-D flight simulator equipped with new Avio IFMS (integrated flight management system) avionics. The course includes six days of ground school, 14 hours of brief/debrief time and 18 hours of simulator training. All systems and phases of flight are covered during initial training. Customers develop a thorough understanding of the IFMS avionics system, allowing them to use it to its fullest potential in both normal and emergency situations.

In other news, SimCom recently upgraded the visual display systems on its Learjet 35 and Hawker 800 flight simulators. The enhancements now offer a “vivid” daylight training environment and real satellite imagery, allowing virtually any weather condition to be presented, including rain, snow, lightning, fog and storm cells.

Visual imagery is generated by the new Redifun Simulation raster extended terrain system. The image generator offers greater rendering of models for more realistic effects, while LED-based projectors allow customers to view the latest airport modeling with improved clarity and brightness. Through RSI’s airport model currency program, the airport environment is kept current with the real-world airports.
