Angela Gittens, director general of the Airports Council International (ACI), and Roberto Kobeh Gonzales, president of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council, have signed a memorandum committing their two organizations to jointly pursue the highest possible levels of safety at airports around the world.
The memorandum essentially supports the development of the ACI Airport Excellence (APEX) in Safety Program, designed to help airports identify and address safety vulnerabilities, while also offering joint technical assistance on a variety of airport projects. The two organizations will also regularly exchange safety and database information.
ACI and ICAO plan to interchange experts, as well as provide training that promotes regional cooperation.
