Jet Aviation (Booth No. 7090) announced this week that its Basel completions center will be collaborating with the Porsche Design Studio to create a new VVIP aircraft cabin interior.

Porsche Design Studio places a “particular focus on technically inspired, timeless products,” according to Roland Heiler, the studio’s managing director. “It is that very philosophy which will be the basis for our aviation designs: not opulent, but timeless, purist and clear, with the aim to distinguish from traditional airplane interiors.”

In other news, Jet Aviation Basel now has the ability to design cabin interiors virtually, using an integration of Catia and Smarteam engineering software into its completion program. The integration replaces AutoCAD, which allowed engineers to design in 2-D. With the new program, the engineers will be able to design in a 3-D environment, which will improve quality and save time.

General manager Charles Celli said the software integration will allow the company to design cabins “with much more precision, increasing efficiency and reducing cost.”

To date, nearly 200 employees have been trained on Catia and Smarteam and its related technology.
