Italy’s Servozi Elicotteristici Italiani (SEI) is exhibiting its new Silens cabin and noise-abatement system for the AgustaWestland AW139 VIP on static display here. Made of a self-sustaining composite structure forming a sort of secluded shell fixed to the helicopter’s lower structure and isolated from the ceiling and rest of the fuselage, the Silens System “dramatically” attenuates noise and vibration in the cabin, according to the Italian supplier. SEI launched the program last year after signing a contract with AgustaWestland, which has worked with SEI during the entire development phase and through an extensive ground and flight test program. Europe’s EASA has approved the Silens system under an SEI STC for all AW139s with hinged passenger doors.
