Honeywell will supply avionics and auxiliary power units (APUs) for Aviation Capital Group’s fleet of 68 new Airbus A320s in a deal valued at more than $40 million. The avionics suite for ACG includes an enhanced ground proximity warning system, air data inertial reference system, emergency locator transmitters, solid-state flight data recorder, solid-state cockpit voice recorder, and flight management system. A small, gas-powered turbine engine, Honeywell’s 131-9A APU provides bleed air for main engine starting and electrical power for cockpit and galley systems. The APU has served airlines since 1998. “Airlines and lessors like ACG are selecting the Honeywell 131-9A APU over alternatives because of the five-percent fuel savings, lower carbon dioxide emissions, increased power, class-leading reliability and low maintenance costs,” said Honeywell Aerospace v-p for airlines Mike Madsen.
