David Cote, 49, has been named president and CEO of Honeywell, taking over
that position from Lawrence Bossidy. Cote will also become chairman when Bossidy, 66, retires on June 30. Before his appointment, Cote served as chairman, president and CEO of TRW. Bossidy was chairman of AlliedSignal until that company merged with Honeywell in December 1999, when he announced he would retire. But his retirement was cut short last July following the failure of the merger attempt between Honeywell and GE, when he was brought into Honeywell as chairman and CEO, replacing Michael Bonsignore.
