Facing a serious financial crisis that threatens to force the company into bankruptcy, Safire Aircraft was evicted from its offices at Opa-Locka Airport in South Florida last month for failing to pay the rent after the would-be very-light-jet manufacturer fell three months behind in payments. Safire CEO Camilo Salomon said recently that he is still pursuing $100 million in fresh financing, but the company has not indicated it is any closer to a deal now than it was on June 9 when it laid off most of its 70 employees. Safire’s lawyer and executive v-p, Greg Fatovic, told AIN that, temporarily, the company “is not in the position to e-mail its position holders and customers.”
