Safe Flight Instrument of White Plains, N.Y., announced on Tuesday it had completed the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) STC requirements for its Powerline Detection System on a Eurocopter AS 355F2. Official issuance of the STC is expected later this month. The helicopter used in the flight tests is operated by Paris-based Trans Helicopter Service, which will market and distribute the system in Europe. The Powerline Detection System alerts pilots to their aircraft’s proximity to live wire hazards. The system has FAA STC approval for Bell 206 series helicopters and field service approvals for the Eurocopter EC 120, EC 135, AS 350B and AS 355 helicopters.
