A little over two years after joining NetJets as president, Bill Boisture Jr. resigned from his position and formed W. Boisture & Associates. Immediately thereafter, he announced he would be retained as a consultant to NetJets under a long-term agreement. About five months later, he joined The Carlyle Group as senior advisor.

Boisture joined NetJets in October 2003 to take over responsibility for North American operations and was based at the company’s Columbus, Ohio, operational headquarters. At the time NetJets chairman and CEO Richard Santulli cited having worked closely with Boisture for about 15 years as a primary reason. The two had worked together since 1989 when Boisture was responsible for Butler Aviation.

Boisture’s two-year tenure put him toe-to-toe with NetJets’ pilot and flight attendant unions as he negotiated ratification of five-year labor contracts. He also made his mark by improving planning, forecasting, scheduling, command and control, aircraft maintenance and management information systems.

In his new position as senior advisor at The Carlyle Group, Boisture will help identify attractive investments in the aerospace, defense and business services sectors as well as provide management, industry and marketing guidance to existing portfolio companies.
