Jet Aviation, in cooperation with Kuwait-based partner United Projects, plans to open an FBO at Kuwait In-ternational Airport early next year. The facility, which will become fully operational in mid-2006, will offer private aircraft handling services, line maintenance and hangar storage.

“The Middle East has seen a steady growth in corporate aviation over the years,” said Heinz Köhli, CEO of Jet Aviation Group. “Kuwait will become our fourth FBO in this region after Jeddah, Riyadh and Dubai.”

According to Jet Aviation, the new 13,000-sq-ft, three-story executive terminal will house a reception area, VIP customer lounge, conference rooms, prayer room, private offices and a restaurant. In-house immigration and customs clearance, security checks, baggage screening and metal detector capability “will allow for smooth, secure passenger and baggage handling,” the company claimed.

Customers and crew will have access to dressing rooms, showers and lavatories. Flight crewmembers will “enjoy the latest technology” in weather and flight planning equipment. Flight crews will have a separate lounge area, briefing room, snooze room and a fully equipped kitchen for crew catering.

Construction will begin late this year. The FBO will be completed in two phases to allow aircraft handling services to begin early next year. When completed in 2006, the facility will include a 16,000-sq-ft hangar and nearly 300,000 sq ft of ramp space.
