Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the House of Representatives and architect of the “Contract with America,” will serve as the keynote speaker at this year’s Aviation Industry Expo (formerly Aviation Industry Week). This year’s convention and trade show, incorporating the annual meetings of the National Air Transportation Association, the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association and the ground support equipment industry group, will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center March 28 to 30. 

Gingrich will deliver his address, “Living in the Age of Transformation,” on Tuesday, March 28, at 9 a.m. He will discuss his study of the state of information systems, the effect of mass communications, the infrastructure and implementation of international finance, the benefits of lean manufacturing, the challenge of military, terrorist and international crime threats, and, of course, American politics. 

Trade show attendees are also urged to stop on the show floor for 30- to 45-minute discussions on industry issues, trends and business solutions, including: “Inspection &amp; Maintenance of Fueling Equipment,” by Determan Brownie; March 28, 1:30 p.m. and “The Role of the Engineering Department,” by Joe Thurman, director of engineering at Midcoast Aviation; March 28, 2:30 p.m.

There will also be 30- to 45-minute technical discussions and demonstrations of equipment and processes featuring hands-on experience with tools and materials. They include: “Duats Flight Planning,” Leon Thomas, Duats program manager CSC Duats; March 29, 11 a.m.; “DCGPU Direct Current Ground Power Unit,” Adam Szczepanek, business development manager, AeroVironment; March 29, noon.
